oil catch can. can you have it above the crankcase outlet?

So thats it really. I am fitting on in the truck and its pretty tight. The only real space I can fit it is on the side.

This means the pipe going to it is on a slight incline. Is this ok? It means any drips that form in the pipe will go back into the rockercover rather than the can.

Not being experienced with them I am unsure if this is a problem at all? Is all the stuff coming out in such a vapourous form that it will not care about a little (4cm?) upward travel?

Logic would say it needs to be lower so the stuff can fall into it but like I say i dont know so any help much appreciated.

I shouldn't think it'd be a problem, its a vac setup so as you say the oil/vapour is drawn into the tank. Just make sure you have some gauze in there or similar. I've run mine for many years in a similar way in that it is quite far from the PCV due to lack of anywhere else to fit it. No issues whatsoever. HTH

As long as the pipe doesn't get blocked you'll be fine. It is only to let the gases escape. It's not required to syphon out any of the oil with it. That's why generally PCV's are mounted on the top of valve covers, else you'd be replacing lost oil weekly

Just FYI, check out how long the hoses to and from my catch can are.
I've never had issue with anything collecting IN them.

Yet the catch can deffo earns it's keep.

Word to the wise - Make sure you get proper reinforced vac hose, anything else will degrade/collapse.

If you're on about the amount of oil lost down the PCV hose, then it won't make any difference. The only difference is that the oil lost through the PCV system is caught in the can and doesn't reach the inlet manifold.

As far as I can tell, since fitting mine 2 months ago, it hasn't drawn any oil down it. Mine has transparent hoses fitted, so it would be obvious.
