Breathing can harm your health...

Post by simonc » Sun Oct 25, 2015 4:50 am

For the past three months, the air over here (and more so in Singapore) has been shocking. We live under a permanent haze that's blown in from Indonesia as they burn huge swathes of plantation land. This pic (not mine, taken from 'The New Straits Times' website shows you what it's like.

Terrible eh?

And a more strking example of what this crap looks like close up manifested itself yesterday after a shower late in the afternoon. Just take a look at the crap that's floating in the air that we're inhaling.

Anyway, this spurred a frenzy of cleaning this morning as that muck was driving me crazy. Ironically enough, I've been out for a couple of hours breathing in the very crap you've just seen.

Anyway, and with apologies to Madame de Pompadour, après le déluge*, ma voiture est très shiné, innit ?
(*of clean water from the hosepipe, obviously.)

Gratuitous and self-indulgent. Sorry.

That little bit of missing trim drives me bananas

You won't beat me Mr Indonesian plantation owner.

So now you've all had a lie-in with your extra hour, spare a thought for us out here in t'mystic east as we cough our way through another hazy week. Right, I'm off outside for a fag... :)

Thanks Nathan, actually I really enjoy making her look lovely.
Linda thinks I'm nuts and wonders if I've developed some kind of OCD over its looks. Perhaps she's right but bollocks, it keeps me off the streets and, at least she knows I'm not out chasing skirt. ;)

I'd be getting into the dust masks like the Japanese do buddy. That really is shocking.

We get the same once a year hetre with the sahara winds that blow in from time to time but nothing like that.

You don't know how right you are fella. The surgical face mask is this season's 'must-have' fashion accessory.
This one is rather appealing isn't it? *cough*

The 7-11's here do a roaring trade in them depending on the direction of a particular morning's winds. Honestly, it's bloody horrible, stings the eyes, dries out the throat and generally makes people feel rather ill. I'm glad I'm not an asthma sufferer but really feel for some of those poor folks.
