Attention Wheel Geeks...

Post by Shiny » Fri Apr 22, 2016 9:24 pm

Right then chaos, I fancy some nice 7 spokes for the ATR.

Rota Grids are nice for 6 spokes, but I think 7 will be better and a bit more unique.

I love the Gram Light 57s, but they are silly money and don't come in a fitment I need.

This lead me to Rota SDXs, but they are no longer available. Turns out that the SDXs are replicas or Mugen GPs.

These are so spunk worthy.

So then chaps, as the fonts of all knowledge, what wheels are out there that are reps of the Mugen GPs and hopefully won't cost the earth? Need 17", 5x114.3. 7.5 width, et45 to 55 ideally. Gunmetal will get me hard.

Fire away...

Not sure about other GP reps, buy what about WedsSports SA90's as another option? They crop up from time to time. They're 7 spoke and 17x7.5 et43 is a common size.

Cheers Nath, just googled them, but sadly they don't get me excited. I think maybe it is because they get slightly thinner as they reach the edge of the wheel?

Right chaps, I'm back on this.

Need some ideas for 6 or 7 spokes, budget up to £600 without tyres.

Every time I see something it either costs £2k+ for a set of 4 wheels or it doesn't come in the fitment or colour I desire.

I'm looking for a shadow chrome, shiny gunmetal type finish. 17" x 7.5 (or 7) 5x114.3. Oem Pcd is 55, I have Pcd 45 EP3 wheels on and they fit well, so could manage Pcd 42.

Thought about Bola B1 but the spokes stick out more than the rim so are a no go.

Seen some XXR 551s which were nice but too wide.

Askura Racing (Inovit) ST16s are nice, basically Rota Grids, but can find out the Pcd options.

The JDM Wolfrace seem ok but may stick out like the Bolas.

So come in chaps, I'm sure you know more about wheels than my mindless googling, so throw some suggestions at me.

They'll be going in my ATR.

At that price, I guess you'd consider second-hand?

If they were in exceptionally good nick. At £300 for a refurb it probably isn't cost effective.

I've no curbing at all on my EP3s so would want to replace them with anything that was marked.

There's a lot of new choices at £600 though.
