So the time has come... :O

Post by nitin_s1 » Tue May 16, 2017 9:32 pm

Now putting around 13k miles in my Type-S since 2012 the time has come where the ATTS has started to die slowly.

The light used to come up rarely and with the engine off then on it used to be working perfectly again. But during the last month it became more frequent and reseting was really annoying. Now just last week it came on and it stayed ON. :o :( No matter how many times I reset the ATTS it never worked. Checked the code and with the help of Ratty (my part time boyfriend) we figured out the code which was the Left/Right Oil Pressure sensor. Checked online on the USA forum where there are lots of Type-SH (with ATTS) and that seems to be the common problem after the car gets old. :| :(

Now I have two options (I have kind of made up my mind but wanted to see what would you people do?)

Option 1 - Fix the ATTS (Get the sensors from USA as UK ones are two expensive and hard to get)
As the sensors are hard and expensive to get from UK I will have to get them from USA as they had SH models there with ATTS. This will allow me to keep the ATTS and have the true JDM Type-S that I've always spunked over. But will be expensive and can't guarantee that this will not happen again in the future.

Option 2 - LSD > ATTS (Get LSD gearbox and remove ATTS completely)
Get rid off the ATTS completely and install a LSD. This will allow me to save some weight at the front and also loosing ATTS will mean I can tune the engine with different or aftermarket ECU.

Currently the engine will need a major service/rebuild very soon in the future so I can get either of the options in the car while it's getting sorted. :(

Hi Nitin,

Noooo! Sorry to hear that. It's always been a fear of mine too but from what you're saying, you are a man after my own heart; option 1 true JDM and all original.

In my mind it's still OEM LSD style....

Just think of it as borrowing from the ATR that which rightfully belongs to the Prelude.

LSD Nitin, though I suspect that's where you're heading.

Sorry to hear of your ATTS woes.
