Furious - Hit and run on my mum's lude.

Post by SiR Shizzle » Mon Jul 01, 2013 10:28 am

This happened on sat night in Bournemouth, witness saw a people carrier at 2:30am smash into my mum's 'lude, reverse and speed off.

The car was pushed onto the kerb and the damage seems quite substantial. Oddly the windscreen wipers aren't working and the electric windows went down but not up and are stuck. It drives straight though so it may just be cosmetic.

She's gutted, it's her pride and joy. I'm going to get it looked at before deciding what to do. In real terms the car isn't worth much it's just the sentimental value as she loves it so much.

Some people of just arseholes.

Oh man that sucks! I hate it when people do that. Still, it looks like a wing, bumper, reflector and headlight will fix it, so not worth losing your no-claims discount over..
I'll send you a replacement reflector if it helps, it's all I have to offer though I'm afraid. Actually I might have a headlight lens of a knackered light you can have too, but it's probably easier to swap the entire headlght unit.

I think it might be worse than that. The wiper bottle behind is ruined and that part of the front subframe (i think) that is poking through the fron bumper is worrying. The old dear's got it booked into assess the damage before either claiming or fixing. We've got a crime ref number etc and the witness got part of the plate. A similar thing happened to me in my old CRX and even with a partial plate the police found the car and I got a new wing a respray out of it so it might work out ok.

Cheers for the offer of the parts,i might be in touch should we decide what to do.

I am considering buying it back if it gets written off and maybe breaking it, I've got a mate who wants the motor for a mk2 CRX he's got. My mum had intended on spending money on sorting the rusty rear arches, but now she'll have to put this right it's probably not worth it. I might turn it into a track slag or something.

I bought my smashed one back off the insurance company for £50.. and they delivered it to my house!
Let me know if I can help, I have a water bottle and the subframe.

I think the washer bottle will be ok from looking at those pics. It is possible that the cruise control vacuum tank is broken though. It sits in the passenger wing and is designed to break upon impact. It is a safety feature to switch off the CC during a crash.
