5th Gen = UPJ & TRE Boots

Post by PreludePete » Sat Apr 21, 2018 7:28 am

My Motegi has MOT advisory that upper ball joint and tie rod end boots are perished/split.

Want £70.00 for the boots and £150.00 labour. Ouch!

Are there alternative sources for the boots? Cant seem to find anything relevant on Ebay.

Any help appreciated.

Pete

Search 'ball joint boot' on eBay for the uppers, the're a few quid each.

For the tie rods, search 'tie rod gatier'

The tie rod ends will need the alignment doing afterwards, so that's probably where a chunk of the labour cost sits.

Thanks for the response Vtecmec will try this.

There are some "split" Boots, claiming to save labour and time!

Anybody tried these? Are they any good?

They're good for a quick fix, but long term you want the proper job :)
