(LB) BMC CDA Filter Fitted

Post by NafemanNathan » Mon Feb 06, 2012 12:58 pm

Finally got around to fitting my air filter today. I decided I'd take the opportunity to start sprucing up the engine bay as well. I'm about half way through I'd say (Working left to right)

I picked all the flaking paint off the battery clamp and wire brushed it down ready to paint. And removed the heat shield in order to sand down to paint as well.

I also came to realise today on closer inspection that it's actually had a very minor head-on collision. My front bumper is not actually the original front bumper. In fact it's dark metallic green underneath! Whoever did the swap didn't do a very good job of preparing and priming the bumper... Oh no wait... Actually they didn't bother at all! #-o

There are other tell tell signs as well. Both headlights have actually got internal broken bits, tho I planned on replacing them for black-backed lamps anywho, so that doesn't really both me. I do however need to source some replacement front fog light surrounds as the OS one has the corner missing and on of the screw holes doesn't pick up. And also I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a whole Milano Red (R-81) front bumper now as well

Here you go, this one's as near as damn it....

The original rocker cover was all flakey to, but I swapped that with my rather pristine one from the phantom grey car before I sold it

Me CDA's pretty swauve... a noitceable difference between that and an ebay job   I'm not fully benefitting from it yet tho due to still running a standard exhaust.

Also I was looking to get some 85mm+- chrome ducting (like from the ebay jobs) that I could custom shape (with silocone joiners) Then heat wrap the lot. Just so I'd have a better airflow. Gonna go post a few things in the "wanted" section now :P

Why thank you! :D

Still only half way through at the moment. I gave her her first outside wash today... Made hell of a difference. Still needs a good t-cutting until I can afford a full on paint job tho  . Hopefully not too long til a new set of wheels and tyres either :D

Just WD40 dude  It takes all the oxidisation away instantly. I think there's a slight illusion from the camera as well... She's not quite as shiny as the pictures shows sadly  But still, worth ago

I really shouldn't be spending any more more on her at the moment. And I've still got my Exhaust to fit and Short Shifter (If I can find a damn way to remove the god damn after market gear knob! )

But what with both my rear dampeners knocking and the front being as squeaky as you like in the mornings (When I'm the most irritable) I've now got a set of these on the way  .......

Image

I'm also picking up an actual Milano Red bumper, hopefully without flakey paint and "metallic green primer" from Rob soon to :D
