I actually simply kept my foot on the brake and lifted off the clutch a little whilst in 1st. It then idled fine, but took me a while to find it each time being I'm still getting used to a new clutch bite point lol.

And cheers Phil. Gets me everytime :D Image

Progress

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:33 am

Cheers Mart. Had to work quite fast to get her on the road :)

Bit more progress then. First off was to replace the rusty door for the dented door and transplant everything across. Sorry it's not a great pic Sam and I didn't realise I was in black and white mode  But this is the bulb in the driver's door handle...

Image

It's what that cable runs too. I tried to remove it, but it wouldn't come out.

Before I could transplant the window mechanism across I had to fix it first. Someone had obviously tinkered with it before, but in doing so left out the back runner's lower bolt out which meant it would almost instantly pop out and drop at the front

Image

Once I'd examined it I could also see one of the arms was bent too. Hard to tell in the pic, but that flat bit at the back should be pretty much parallel to the rest...

Image

Compulsory pic of the door off...

Image

With those bits sorted I could put it all back together, but minus the plastic side stripe as this will go back on once the door is dent free ;-)

Image

Then it was on to the big clean. These pics don't do just how dirty the car was any justice, but...

Image

Also wonky hand-brake (Which I've since straightened partly by bolting the thing down properly  ...

Image

Had to get the mole grips on the gear knob to remove it in order to sort the gaiter and remove the console, so that now has teeth marks in it, but it was looking a bit tired anyway, so I've ordered a new one...

Image

Centre console removed and rusty gear stick...

Image

Cleaned gear stick...

Image

Cleaned carpet...

Image

Dirty boot...

Image

Dirtier boot carpet...

Image

Clean boot...

Image

Clean carpet...

Image

Anyone know what these hooky things are for by the way?...

Image

Then it was sort out the shoddy cable work for the stereo. The front OS speaker wasn't even wired in and half the wires had pulled out the connections  So...

Image

Image

Then it was stereo in with the good rear speakers I put in the Aerodeck in the front doors...

Image

And the great rear speakers the Silver Prelude happened to have in the parcel shelf in the parcel shelf of this lude :) ...

Image

Just need to sort out a decent surround for them.

You may have noticed I'd removed the glove box. It's actually got one broken hinge, so it sits low in one corner when it's up, so I've just removed it for now as it bugged me. Makes for great passenger foot well lighting at night though! :)

Image

Oh and 4th gen mats fit a treat too ;-) ...

Image

Image

Then besides possibly making up a new gaiter for the steering wheel boss, that's the interior practically sorted...

Image

Oh and I fitted the Richbrook R1 wheel from my silver lude to as the other one was pretty gross and too small for my liking...

Image

And one more thing...

Image

 Max has never really expressed any interest in driving before. Why would he?... He's not even 2 yet. But he absolutely loves sitting in the front seat! :D The first time I put him in his chair he couldn't stop smiling and when I started the engine up went "Ooooo" with a big smile on his face :) He loves it!!! :D

Then the debadging in preparation for the body-guy (Who has postponed me until next weekend due to not being in his new premises yet). But first say hello to BA4 man! :D ...

Image

Image

In taking that picture I noticed my number plate was wonky...

Image

So...

Image

And...

Image

Fixed the dud rear number plate light too...

Image

And front in the daylight...

Image

Totally undecided on where to fix my front number plate too since it fell off :?

And then the last pictures of tonight are my new arrival ;-) ...

Image

8)

And along side the set of Goodyear Eagle F1's I should be having fitted and balanced tomorrow...

Image

That's me up to date :D

Bit behind on this, not seen it since page 11. Nice progress! Glad to hear the hunting issue is fixed.
