OK, well I had a knocking noise on the NSF develop lately, turns out to be the damper
The Konis have been great, but with them currently running at about £350 a pair (and I would replace both the fronts), I decided to spend a little more and go for coilovers, ordered some through PAW while I was there and two days later these spangly bits of man jewellery arrived

: Thanks again Rich

This is one of the fronts:
So I set to work last night on getting them fitted. I haven't done a 'how-to' as I'm afraid I was against the clock, that also explains the basic pics, but it is essentially the same as any suspension replacement, except that you have the height adjustment too.
ON THAT NOTE: - The FIRST thing I did was to measure the existing height of the car, as I wanted to replicate this with the new setup, one because I like it - it just about clears the bulk of speed humps etc - and two beacuse I wanted to avoid having another geo setup right away.
A quick word with Rich led to me measuring the distance from the
floor to the jacking point, as its a nice repeatable constant. Only problem was the roads are all bum droppings where I am so I had to put it in the garage where its nice and flat, but with bugger all room to move around
For ref, my heights were
135mm front, 140mm rear.
Anyway, that done, I started with the duff corner, easy to see the oil from the leaking damper with the flash on the camera:
And this is the first coil over 90% fitted (still have to tighten the top bolts, hence you can see a little of the stud)
There are 32 clicks of adjustment on the top of the dampers, so being used to my slight front bias with the Konis, I picked 22 front and 16 rear as a starting point and headed for a spin.
First impressions are, well, excellent.
The ride quality itself is very good and I was noticeably carrying more speed through corners with less fuss (tyre squeal), though to be fair, obviously the most recent memory of the Konis is with the NSF shot!!
I need to have a play around with settings, and after a quick measurement this morning, I need to reset the height again, not by much, but a little here and there. Thankfully this is fairly straight forward -
Measure height to decide on how much adjustment is needed
Jack up
Remove wheel
Use provided C spanner to loosen height adjust locking ring (The lowest ring in then pic)
Adjust height by rotating entire upper part - You can use the larger C spanner on the top ring to do this.
I found that measuring the height from the bottom of the top ring, to the bottom of the lowest ring first helped. Say its 70mm, and from your measurements you want to raise it 5mm, just adjust until in it is 75mm. Simples.
