:?: Oh right, no sorry, I wasn't being that clever! Plus the Hondata is already done 8-)

If you like stuff like that however, then I guess I'm about to slip this thread into a new gear

I did think you've surely already got your tuning side done!

Well that just seems too easy, so I'm going to go with Jazz washer/misters? :D

Re: BsBB1 - UPDATE - arch work...

Post by bennyboy » Mon Nov 19, 2012 3:27 pm

Right, thought I'd better update this, as a warning really.

I had a bit of rust coming through on the near side rear arch, which pissed me off as I had a 'new metal' job done about 2 years ago.
Well, apparently I didn't. I had a call from the garage (different place) to say that they probably would need an arch panel if I could get one, so I went down there to take a look.
The bloody thing had about HALF AN INCH of filler over it, a good 6-8" above the arch too. The 'new metal' was a little bit on the back edge, the rest had been wired, filled, sprayed
I had my suspicions, which is why I have taken it to this new place, but heed my warning folks, get a look at plenty of the garages previous work.
The annoying thing for me is I did just that, they were a recommendation from a customer of mine, that restores classics etc so that coupled with the work I saw at the time, I was confident. Its seems that they just bodged the jobby out of it.
I've since found out that the customer and that garage fell out and in fact the garage is now out of business. Just as well really, or I'd have had to do it myself.....

Rant over.

On a better not, my local knight in shining armour (indigolemon) has saved me again \o/ He is sending his arches from group buy down so that I can get it sorted, and I'll replace them before he needs them 8-) A scholar and a gent.

Also, once this is done, I can concentrate on what was SUPPOSED to be the next bit of work.....off to PAW for an ATR LSD and lightened flywheel.

A shame to hear that bud :( Seems recommendation isn't always a good thing to go on alone quite often... Just look at Mart's lude  (Not necessarily bad worksmanship, but definitely bad after care service.)

Still at least you've found somewhere now that knows they need to do a proper job.

ATR LSD as well ay? ;-) 8-)

Get the garage to take pictures along the way of the repair to see evidence of a propper job. Dont pay otherwise.

Yep, agreed on all counts. Live and learn I guess, but annoying as I consider myself to be pretty careful with this sort of thing, but short of camping out at the garage and watching them do the bloody job, what can you do!
Makes me want to buy a welder and do it myself TBH....

Yep, ATR LSD, little chrimbo pressie to moi.
