Made a start on fitting my Aerocatches to my bonnet the other evening.
I bought these a while back from the Demontweeks stand at Autosport International.
I didn't get the under support Adaptor backing plates though. But After what I saw from what
@Merlin had posted in another thread I decided to get some. For the extra £6 odd they cost, they are a must IMO. They make it alot easier to fit and act as a sandwich for the carbon.
Not too many pics as we were too busy panicing not to drokk things up
So made a start by taking the old bonnet catches off. So we had a bit of a base to start with on where they were going to go.
The old catches wern't 100% aligned though. So we measured it out and luckily the old holes were still in the ranges of where we needed to cut the new ones.
They come with some marking plates to make things easier.

So once it was lined up we drawed round the markers with some tip-ex.
Then it was time to start cutting!
For this we used a cutting disc on a dremel tool.

Once the basic shape was cut out we sanded it down to the correct shape needed to slot the Aerocatches in

Next was to cut the under skin on the bonnet to allow the aerocatches to pass through. This didnt need any acurate cutting as it wouldn't been seen to just a basic hole was cut out and smoothed.

Next the Aerocatches were temporarily slotted in to mark the holes for the screws. Then the holes were drilled out.
After that it was just a matter of fitting the catches.
The backing plate has locating holes for all the nuts and also comes with extened screws too.
So the backingplate was offered up to the underside of the bonnet. Then the Aerocatch slotted in the top of the boonet and slides also into the backing plate. The screws then slide right into the nuts located in the backing plate, EASY!

saving all the fiddling trying to get the nuts on.

At this point we ran out of time. So next time will be to drill the slam panel to fit the locking bars.
