The arrival of more light weight goodies today!

One pair of Spoon CF mirrors

...
I broke them down into there main components straight away to see if I can do as I plan and spray the main mirror carcass Milano red, ideally without the mirror glass in situe to make sure I get in all the nooks and crannies. After fearing I was just gonna snap the clips off I got the knack as was able to remove the glass no problems

.
The adapter plates were simply held in place with 3 screws. I had been pesimistic and assumed I was going to have to make my own adapter plates from the spare non-functioning electric mirrors I have, but as it happens, and for the record, these (assuming they were right for a DC2) are exactly the same profile!

No modification required apart from slotting possibly 2 of the 3 fixing holes in the door
As you can see the mirrors were sprayed assembled before, but I intend painting the adapter plates black anyway. Though I will be removing as much of the existing two coats of paint (black then blue) as I can first
All that pointless information aside, I can't believe how much lighter these mirrors are than the standard power mirrors!

... Or more to the point... I don't understand why the standard mirrors are so heavy

The Spoon mirrors have to be a 5th of the weight I recon.
Anyway, thank you very much Pip and Danny
And thank you very much Rob for bringing them down today

... Although I did have to work half an hour overtime to make up for the time I spent outside chatting to you!

... Only joking... Everyone had pretty much gone on by then anyway
