Farlow's 5th gen Motegi
Re: Farlow's 5th gen Motegi
Since I've been nominated for LOTM I thought I'd better get this build thread up to date. Firstly there have been a few more tweaks to the engine bay, mainly just for looks but some performance mods too. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of each mod as they happened but I do have details of some so please bear with me.
As I said previously I wasn't happy with the finish on the rocker cover and fancied a different colour so set about painting it again.

This time opting for White which I thought was a good contrast to the carbon spark plug cover.

It looks a bit off on these pics but is much better on the car.

I finished the rocker cover with some tegiwa stainless washers and red anodised dome nuts.
At this stage you can also see some other additions including, spoon reservoir covers, clear red dizzy cap and I replaced the leads again for some magnecore KV85's.
I also replaced all of the vacuum hoses for red silicone items

And finished the strut brace with some anodised red nuts.
The hose arrangement for the catch can was adjusted yet again this time with the addition of a K&N carbon fibre crankcase breather and I also added a skunk2 vtec solenoid cover.

I probably mentioned earlier that I was having some issues with the car not idling properly and was difficult to start on cold mornings. This I found was just a side effect of the new intake mani and throttle body set up and no matter how hard I tried I could not get the balance right. If it idled right it wouldn't start and it it started it wouldn't idle so I eventually gave up and just accepted that it would have to just idle like a race car for me to start it through the winter. After running like this for a while I got used to it and began to wonder what was the point of carrying the idle control system around if I wasn't using it. So I decided to remove it along with a couple of other items I no longer had use for.

Some time later there were a couple more deliveries and I added these

And this

The pulleys were a fairly straight forward job although a little fiddly at times and the polyurethane engine mounts highlighted this little fella

This was replaced with a genuine honda item and the engine mount inserts went in quite easily.
The exhaust wrap was awkward and difficult to get it right. I'm still not entirely happy with it and might consider ceramic coating the manifold next time I have it out.
Anyway here's some pics of the finished bay.
