Custom Headlight Cold Air Feed (Part 7)

Post by NafemanNathan » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:11 pm

Well all Tiger-Seal'd up pretty well and happy, I then found some silver paint which thought might look pretty good, so decided to mask it up again and apply a few coats of silver.

Big mistake... The silver paint blatantly didn't like the Tiger Seal and started to react  ...

Image

Image

After it had finally dried I proceeded to clean it all up again, but it had broken the majority of the Tiger Seal down and even the stone chip protector paint, so it cleaned right up to the lense again  ...

Image

I think it would have looked great if I took it all back to the lense around the rim, but I wanted more assurance the seal was never going to break.

Anyway, that done I've given it a good number of new coats of black and it's looking right as rain again :) ...

And this time... It even made it on to the car ;-) ...

I was obviously aware the eyebrow was going to overhang the top and inner edge of the mouth, so I always had the intention to carve the eyebrow to match the mouth perfectly. I thought it'd look quite good like that, but I think I'll photoshop it before I do carve it up and it doesn't look that bad as it is, although I would prefer less restriction and a bigger feed.

Hopefully this weekend I should get time to test fit the ATR manifold and set up the whole intake.

Oh, and I'll also definitely make time to wash the whole car!

Looks stunning. Really like the front end like this and the headlight holes doesnt ruin the front, its almost stealth.

That's a really good cai through the headlight! Did you have to re-locate any bulbs, not familiar with the 4g lights. I wonder if something similar could be done with a 5g?

and wait for the big head light jokes

Looks great Nathan. To be honest that hole and intake will supply more than enough air for your proposed build.
Great job fella. As Ratty said, looks stealth.

Cheers guys. Glad you approve after what appears to be a rather drawn out process

And glad you think so Ratty... That's the kind of look I'm going for... Although she won't be black when I'm done ;-)

Afraid I need at least one full beam Darryl ;-) And I could never do a fake anything! Everything needs a purpose and if it hasn't then it must go! I am toying with the idea of two feeds, but like I said I need the other full beam, so it'll go elsewhere if I follow through with that plan.

Alex, from the outside it goes side lights, dipped beam, full beam. So I've lost a full beam as you may have guessed and I haven't relocated it, so it's an MOT fail as it is. Nothing a quck swap can't sort though. Took me 10 minutes to swap it today :)

And sure sure Matt... You keep telling yourself that! But seriously, the whole headlight of a 5th for CAI?! :o ... Surely that'll just blow the intake manifold clean off the head?!

What do you guys think about carving the eyebrow to match the feed? Again I don't think it'll look bad to look different from the NS one (And I wouldn't want to carve that one to match, sorry Darryl  ). I kind of want to, to get the best flow, and I think that's more important than what it looks like. It's definitely no speed holes dilema, so I think all should be good ;-)
