Can you do this bit for me Nick?

No the only contact point for the metal horn disc is at the bottom - so when you press the button it depresses on the spring and makes contact - the contact it touches is the central spade connector on the otherside - this is the wire that is loose the other connection is soldered to the body of the boss.

So there's definitely no spring connector like on this one (looks like a bent paperclip at the bottom)?...

As that or one of the tabs (the blanked plain rivet in that particular horn button pictured) is normally the constant connection, and the central tab is usually the switch.

cheers Nathan - thats how i tried it - i will need to check the connection youve marked in green - guess there could be a break in that wire or loose at the solder point. i thought it would be a straight forward swap as it came off a jdm BB4. :( Will have another go at it this weekend.

If the horn is sounding constant there won't be a break... It'd be making a connection before the trigger somewhere. The two spade connections look pretty close to each other in that pic... They're not simply touching when it's assembled are they?

got the steering wheel fitted this eve thanks to 3rdgensteve and Indigolemon.
Trying compared to the oem wheel but feels good - wasnt sure at first but think this mod will stay in place.

Turned out to be a broken wire and also loose at the solder point - so wasnt straight forward.

yes and no - the horn button wouldnt stay in place so had to break out the black electrical tape and i will have to lay off the horn button otherwise it might ping out - not that i use the horn button much anyway :) thanks for your help bud oh and steve had to move the brass horn contact switch over a bit so it contacted the right bit of the ring on the boss and graham had to resolder and patch the dody wire - so grateful these guys were there as i dont have a clue about auto electrics.
The new wheel is so much smaller than the oem one but i think its an improvement on what was there so im pleased with the final result. :)
