i miss preludes but..
i miss preludes but..
This is my new toy the day after I bought it
its a 2.8 Pajero swb and at the mo its a 2 seater
Starts up first time every time, engine sounds sweet, gearbox seems fine, gear changes are smooth... but 4wd is a bit.... not sure if a vacuum line is loose, dirt from off roading is in a sensor. or the diff is well and truely... dont get me wrong. 4wd works, it goes sick off road, but the front wheel light flashes on the dash so that means something is rotton in denmark
had a quick tinker with the waste gate to strenghthen the diaphragm but it feels worn.
but I have an issue with the fans. actually its the heater blower module, the flaps are stuck on windscreen only. could be that i knocked a cable loose when fitting an alarm
handbrake is non existent. 1 side totally snapped.
first thing i did was get a boss kit for this
my plans with this machine
snorkel.
a winch
a 2" lift kit and neither a set of 16's with big fat nobblys on them
i just did a 30mm spacing each side.
from
to
and today i was so determined to keep these seats and use them again, so i put them in
i only found out recently 2WD mode is rwd and things got hairy when i was kinda flooring it round a bend and sideways and i kinda sh1t it while trying to get it back. now i know its rwd & i cant get it to drift lol. but donuts are easy on the grass..

Looks nice mate! Have a lwb Shogun but in 3.0 v6 variety!
Few things:
To lift a swb use lwb rear springs which will lift the back and then wind up the torsion bars to lift the front. Leave the front a little lower than the back to account for weight in the rear. You may also need to cut down the front bump stops after lifting it.
The 2.8's suffer badly from cracked heads but it's down to poor maintenance. The engine overheats due to a bad cooling system and cracks the head. The gauge is useless as by the time it tells you it's too hot the damage is done. Best bet is take the rad off and make sure it's clear, replace the thermostat and rad cap and new coolant and then fit an aftermarket temp gauge.
The flashing lights could be a vacuum line or a sticky solenoid underneath.
Get yourself on Pajero Owners as there is a lot of good info on there on a lot of the problems these vehicles can suffer from!
