stubborn valve stem seals

Post by A1ex » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:43 pm

Trying to change the valve stem seals on the h22 head and can't get the buggers off. I'm using a pair of valve seal pliers and they keep slipping, tried regular ones too and no joy. The seals will rotate fine but won't pull off. Don't want to be too brutal with it and damage the valve guides, also the head is on a table so can move around quite easily :-(

Anyone on here had this issue before? If so how did you resolve it?

Many thanks :-)

I had the same problem, just resorted to careful butchery. :scaredtoss:

I just used regular pliers to remove mine. They were a bitch as I remember, but I got the technique in the end. Sadly I can't quite remember what that technique was

I think maybe I held the pliers vertical over the seal, clamping the main larger body, clamping as hard as possible and then rocked them back and fourth, pulling up at the same time.
