Also, there's quite a few scorch marks... They haven't broken any of the contacts have they?

i presumed NS stood for NucluezStyle

chip is lined up correct per instructions - we even marked the board on notch side with a red pen - you can see this in the photo.
i can see some of the scorch marks on the back of the pcb but only in the photos which are on super micro cant see it with the naked eye

I think the only thing we can do is try another ECU and have a poke about the chipped ECU to see if one of us can see if there is anything visually wrong :?

Yeah, definitely try a known working ECU first.

I'm here guys!

I can only be brief as I’ve been out of the office this morning and have to go into a meeting shortly.

Unfortunately I can’t see your pics in work, but you can email them to me: rob.wyatt@gleeds.co.uk

Mostly agree with Nathan so far, use Spoon JDM P13, UKDM no good & I can’t vouch for the P28 you have sorry.

The problem could be:

1) Bad soldering has broken contacts
2) Incorrect fitting (again can’t see pic and it’s not rocket science)
3) Could be a bad chip??? I’ve had two to date in the stacks I’ve sold now. I get batches of used blanked out chips from Hong Kong – I assume I’ve just had a couple of ‘bad eggs’. Not a big deal, probably about 1-2% of the ones I’ve burned and I’ve quickly replaced them for good ones and all sorted.

And yes NS = NucleuStylz.
Notch on ECU / Socket / Chip is very obvious and as you say it’s noted on the instructions quite clearly.

Right, try and email me some pics if you can, otherwise I can’t be much help till later. :(

I can stick another in the post tomorrow to try, to rule out a bad chip.

Cheers,

Rob

Ok, hope it's soon as my meeting is at 3:30!

Even with the pics it’s difficult to see damage sometimes. Can’t be worse than the ECU I had a TV repair guy do once. He broke VERY obviously 4 contact lines and tried to patch it up with wire. Safe to say, that one did not work and I had the exact same problems as you – this was my lude.

If you do spot an obvious break or bad bit of soldering, try and rectify it. While it was bodgy, a link wire might be the only option. (If this is what’s wrong???)

Think I’ll get a chip ready to go tonight no matter what.

Rob
