The more I look the more I'm convinced the exhaust cam need's rotating a smidge counter clock wise and the intake a smidge more clock wise.

Aren't the lines meant to line up with the top surface of the head?

have you dialled in the cams to the setting they came with or are they stock?

Also has that belt been tensioned?

There's an odd number of teeth though right? So one mark will be rotating just 90 degrees until it's at TDC whereas the other will be rotating 270 degrees until it's at TDC. The fact that there's an odd number of teeth will explain why the marks look to be in a different positions relative to the teeth... If that makes sense.

David, is there any chance you can get a picture true to the centre line of the bolts? I'm with Phil on the smidge thus way and that, but it's hard to tell with the camera angle.

What's your belt part number incidentally?

Honestly don't know. Never done a belt on an h22. My summers job this year tho. Not looking forward to it that's for sure.

This picture is in the middle but slightly from above . I won't be able to take another picture until Monday .
But have some new things to check first like distributer position and fly wheel mark.

To be continued!

Looked at mine this morning, my marks are in the exact same place on the sprockets' and mine times up fine. And I took the belt off a good few times whilst check v2p clearances and dialling in the cams. You're 100% a tooth out mate

Solved guys.

Moved both cams a tooth and fiddled with the tensioner.
Everything is dead on now.

27th is dyno time! ( again :D )
