Turning the vti into a typeS
Hey guys!
Quick question:
Did honda tweak the ecu to make 220hp with the typeS?
The only thing the EU vti 200hp does not share with the typeS is the more agressive typeS cams right?
So...Theoretically would fitting typeS cams into a h22a8 make 220hp?

There has recently been a discussion about this on the "Honda Prelude" Facebook group. It seems that the H22A8 ECU is restrictive. There's a suggestion that even a 4th gen ECU will free up extra BHP on a H22A8 engine. I'm interested in this and would like to see some before and after dyno runs.
2000 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTi (H22A8 / BB8).

I am too! Hopefully somebody with a bit more knowledge can chime in on this.CARRisma wrote:There has recently been a discussion about this on the "Honda Prelude" Facebook group. Re: Turning the vti into a typeS
What's this?
Much confusion here.
Are we talking about the European vti-s that has atts?
As long as the European vti-s's engine is basically a h22 redtop with the 11.0:1 compression pistons and higher lift cams etc the type s ecu will give the full 217bhp. It will work.

To make things a bit clearer. I was asking about the vti (my model) which is redtop with 4ws, but i believe the same applies to the EU vti-s. Are you saying the european redtop already has the high lift cams and the only thing needed is the typeS ecu?RattyMcClelland wrote:What's this?

You said eu vti so I assumed your European not ukdm. I think euro vtis use the h22a5 engine which won't work.tom023 wrote:To make things a bit clearer.
