H22A7 single stage intake manifold

Post by hondaddict » Wed Aug 17, 2016 5:52 pm

Hello everybody!!! :D

I'm looking for an information, i need to know the lenght of the intake piping of the oem intake manifold of the H22A7 engine.

I need to know the lengh between the face of the flange and the plenum, not in straight line but the "course" of the pipe, because i have some waves calculations to do

I hope my froglish is clear , thanks for your help! :D

Are you hoping to dabble in acoustic supercharging?

I can pretty much guarantee no-one will have that information and even if you measured it you'd never be accurate enough to achieve anything different than guessing. All you can really do with regards to the length is extend it for more low down torque or shorten if for faster revving less torque.

What's more important is runner length.

Thanks for your answer NafemanNathan :D

Yes i need the runner length , it was the word i was searching
Sorry about my spelling  , i have just read again my previous post

I previously worked on the intake manifold of my 3rd gen B20A7 Preludes and i obtain some interestings results, first by calculation , and then by modifying the manifold.
It was easier because of the " 3 parts/ dual stage manifold" .

Now, what i want to do is to calculate the acoustic waves of the H22A7 manifold, to see "how" it works / if a gain is possible/ if there's enough room Under the hood for an interesting result,...

I can also install an RBC or RRC manifold , but i just want to know how my oem manifold is working :D

I have a spare PDE head so i can easily take the length of the runners but for the manifold, to be really accurate, i will have to take my manifold off of my engine

Thanks for the input, i'll see if i find another solution :D and i'll share with you all if i find any interesting information :D

Sorry buddy, if I wasn't half asleep when I wrote that I probably could have worked out that you were talking about runner length :)

What kind of equipment do you have to be able to see the acoustic waves?

I have a H22a7 manifold off the engine, but I've got no means to anywhere near accurately measure it :( What you need is a 3D model, but unfortunately I very much doubt one of those exists.

Thanks NafemanNathan , no problem at all, i know that misunderstand can happen also because of my bad English , previously on another forum i had problems with that and it was really difficult for me to be understood

About our "waves" questions, i only use some calculator like this one:

http://club911idf.free.fr/911idfNew/tec ... ission.htm

It is not perfect but the accuracy of this calculator is enough for us, it helps to know the percentage of length you need to add or remove and at which rpm you will obtain a gain.

I know it is not the perfect tool but i have tested it on my B20A7 and it really help me to do what i wanted to :D

About the mesurement of the manifold, i only see one solution, buy another one for spare and use it to do my experiments...

Once again, thanks for your help :D

So i did it, i bought an ATR intake manifold for spare
Normally i will receive it this Wenesday and i will be able to measure exactly the runners length ;)
