Just wondering how much lift before you need to work the pistons?

And duration and head/block skimmed and cam dialling and piston type.

Its a massively open question mate. Ive got stage 3+ cams with mahle 11.5-1 pistons and flat faced valces and my v2p clearances were ok with vtec locked on.

Well Rich has worked my ATR pistons for clearance using Pro 2 cams, advanced about 3 degrees.

What cams and pistons are you wanting to use?

Tuner stage 2 cams with standard h22a pistons just putting together another engine

I'm pretty sure you're safe to leave the pistons with Tuner 2's.
