where is the engine stamp?!.. noob question.

Post by wchestnutt » Thu May 24, 2012 12:58 pm

Hello yall,

Now it seems once again the simplest of things is a complete pain... For the MOT I need a new flexipipe - easiest fix was a new downpipe - two new downpipes later my mechanic is saying my prelude is an import... Well it has been registered in the uk from 98 from the dealer so that's that. Only other option apparently is that the manifold / exhaust has been swapped at some point, or the engine has been swapped along with the exhaust....

Now I can only find the engine code on the Vin plate by the bonnet latch, and can't see one stamped on the actual block.. Where do I find this?? :s

Look at the exahust manifold heat shield on the front of the engine, its to the left of that, a small flat square on the block.

If its a UK 98 2.2 it should read H22a5.

Where did your mechanic get the downpipes from?

You could see if Josef has one http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/prelude ... -t588.html

As you're looking at the engine from the front, its to the left of the manifold. Its only lightly stamped and is normally covered in dust and dirt so maybe that's why you can't see it?
