Reason why engine wont start on 3rd gen?

When the check light goes out, you should hear a click. This is the main relay working.
If you don't hear the click and the car won't start, find it and solder it. ;)

Thats exactly what i heard and didnt hear. Will listen out for it next time.

Definitely sounds like the main relay is having a laugh every so often. It's up above the pedals (same location as the 4G one). On a 4G, it looks like this:

Pretty sure it's similar in the 3G.

i had the same problem Mr rat sir.

when i went to buy mine it wouldn't start but then eventually did. it has not caused me any issue since but i looked for the issue on the web and found this.

Thanks. You can if you want but if it goes cheap, it goes cheap. :cry: Id much rather spend £600 to the Type S and let someone else enjoy this 3rd Gen.
The current winning bidder emailed me ages ago and i know his budget and its much higher so we will see.

Yes.
That sound exactly like mine. Plus i can solder. We will see. I will start the car everyday and im taking the 3rd Gen to Japshow too since the auction ends after japshow. :mrgreen:

Not much point me saying this but defintely sounds like the mains relay. Mine was playing up on the Aerodeck, with practically all the same symptoms. Resoldered it and sorted ;-)

Good stuff. I will remove it this week and resolder so the new owner has no issues and i wont break down at japshow.

Just like others have said, that is classic main relay behaviour. Its not so much the temp of the engine but the interior temp especially in the footwells. My 4G as a pain in the arse untill I fixed it.
