Engine Build; bearings & fuel

Post by Drax » Thu Jul 25, 2013 10:30 am

if I put ATR Pistons and Rods into a H22a block, ill need to buy new Main bearings and Big End bearings, now do I need Prelude H22a ones or ATR H22a7 ones?

Also, any recommended brand for these? ive heard that ACL race bearings are pretty good but can't find that they do them for the H series, only B or K :?

One other thing, on an N/A engine build that involves much better cams, valves, retainers etc., is it worth uprating your fuel rail and getting a fuel pressure regulator, or are these only really applicable to a turbo build?

Thanks :)

You really need to strip down ur big ends and find out what size shells honda fitted. If you have the max size then a ACL bearing will work but also drop oil pressure.

I'd stick with the honda bearings as you can get the correct sizes individually if you know what I mean?

I know sweet FA about this but what crank are you using? In an H22a7 ATR rods are used with a 55mm crank shaft, the H22a2 one is only 50mm.

I think its the main bearings here we are talking about 50 or 55mm which hold the crank in the block. The rods also have bearings called the big ends attached to the crank...

Drax would like to know about both... 50mm main bearings and then whether ATR or Prelude big end bearings (Not knowing whether ATR's might have a slightly better spec even though they should be the same).
