Not too sure what you mean by rotational, but they have to be lined up as they only work along one plane. It's to stop them moving forwards or backwards (when fitted to the car) and keeps the control arm stable. If you peel the boot back a bit you'll see what I mean as they won't move around 360degs.

That's what I meant by "rotational"... You could obviously turn them in the hole before they're pressed in, so it does matter what position you rotate them to. If that makes sense.

I just assumed the upper arms and the radius arms kept everything in check.

It's a bit of both, if you look you can see the base of the socket is an elongated oval shape meaning it can travel in one plane.

Nice to find decent traders and I think ebay drop links are better than Honda's own especially the 5th gen ones becase they are plastic and brittle.

+ Rep. need to buy some more drop links soon so I will go to this guy.
