dont need one but I think the main point from a 16 year old enthusiasts car that was never fitted one would be for the simple fun of it. imho

you know, spending time and money on parts the car doesn't need because you like spending time and money on parts the car doesnt need. I know you understand that nafeman

For me it's a little bit of james bond and my missis loves to start the car with the start button when we are out for a drive.

This is my dash and I like it.

After the button is fitted you then only need to connect the wires using the patented snaplock connectors. No wire cutting and no soldering!

When the ignition switch went silly on our Galant, we bought a £1.50 black button and wired it up to the starter relay with some household flex. The button sat in the glovebox so I could pretend it was a security device!

Got a blue one! Thanks for the link.
Mine also saved my ass when the contacts went at the back of the barrel (as they do on 4th gens) you could jam the key to just make contact and start the car with the button, if you didn't have the button start you would have been screwed ;)

personally i would strip the wire shield and solder the wires from the switch and relay then cover in heat shrink or insulation tape.

here is a wire diagram i drew up for the 4th gen when i wired the switch in the cigarette lighter hole. the wires for the 5th should be the same.

On the contrary... If my car doesn't need it, it's goooone! ;-)

It's the same difference as ringing a door bell in unison with knocking on the door as the door bell on it's own doesn't work!
