I do use RainSport 2's in the dry sometimes and they do grip really well, they just overheat after a few hard laps. So I try and use them in the wet only. If I were looking for an all round tyre thats decent in the dry/wet/road/track I think I'd look at the Toyo TR1's. They are quite cheap and come in a good range of sizes http://www.camskill.co.uk/m53b103s0p0/C ... _Toyo_T1_R_-_

I've run "T1-R"s ( ;-) ) on my lude for a couple years now and they do stick very well to the road. Had Rainsport 2's on the front of my old Rallye as well (1's on the back) and they stuck like glue whatever the weather. Never pounded the Rallye like Merlin would have his lude on track mind.

That'd be too small if he's wanting to remain with stock circumference.
your right in what you say, but if he is putting it a track then thats better, less sidewall = less flex = more grip/quicker ecceleration, not quite the top end but on track do you need top end speed?

Keep the stock 4" sidewall as tyre wall is still part of the suspension. I run 225/45/16 ad08 on 16x7 wheels.
Best
Tyres
Ever .
They look great on a 7" wheel too.
