off the floor, would avoid flat spots on the tyre

I tend to stack them, never had a problem

I have mine stacked 4 high in the corner of my spare room.
Room temperature, out of sunlight still inflated.

I've done this for a couple of years now and not had any problems.
They're swapped round every six months when I put them on the car, Winter/Summer.

I know what you're saying, but my thinking behind it is worst case scenario that he may have a slow leak, and over time and losing pressure, you wouldn't want the weight of the rim to cause the tyre to "sag" in the rack, as this would cause the potential for cracking sidewalls.

Go on then I'll give you that. I guess even in a rack, I too would check the pressures every now and then and rotate them. But I guess that's just us and our careful ways! Just don't want to put people off buying one, as they are a great storage solution if you've got the wall space. :D

No, seriously, the compound they use if left for long periods actually grows legs and turns into little tyre gremlins. Whatever you do - DON'T FEED THEM AFTER MIDNIGHT! :o

best think is look in tyre manufacture sites

why air out ? keep rubber relaxed if not used, same is for suspensions you dont leave them compressed, even if you store car for long period of time you lift the car to keep suspensions relaxed

I can understand that for suspension, but with regards to tyres it really does depend on how you're storing them. If stacking, then I'd recommend leaving the air in. If leaving them stood end on, then I'd recommend leaving the air in... Otherwise they will mishape and if the side walls fold, they will start to crack and perish.

If you're hanging them, then fair enough, let the air out, but I really don't see the point... The seal of a tyre is kept strong due to air pressure. If the tyre in itself is leaking air then that's inevitable, but keeping a tyre pressurized on a rim isn't going to ruin the rim/tyre seal.

... Unless in extreme rise and fall of temperatures, but I don't think that's an issue here ;-)

you take tyre of and let air out, you still will have 1 bar pressure in tyre so your seals are safe
