What colour wheels on Crystal Blue Metallic 5th gen?

Post by mcj78 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 12:14 pm

Hi all,

Finally getting round to having my wheels re-furbed, just not 100% sure of the colour I want :? - the car's a crystal blue metallic 5th gen with factory side-skirts & a recently aquired USDM urethane repro front lip (which fits really quite well - cheers ebay!), the wheels are the stock 17" Motegi efforts which i'm happy with.

Anyone have any pics of CBM 'ludes with any non-stock wheel colours going on? Or anyoen have any pics of Motegi's done in other colours? I'm leaning towards an anthracite colour, the place i'm going to can do pretty much any colour apparently - guy told me they have loads of OEM powdercoat colours plus they can clear powdercoat over paint too to give more variety, all I have to do is make my mind up which colour to go for! Don't want it too dark ie verging on black, more of a subtle change but still different enough to look "different"

All advice/opinions welcome!

Cheers
j

An old member from PUK got his Motegi wheels done in anthracite and they looked the jobby!

IMO you need a darker colour like this to contrast against the slivery-ness of the Crystal Blue. I didnt think much of my silver Motegi wheels on my Crystal Blue Lude.

Before - Silver OEM

After - Gunmetal Rota C10

Mmmm - few nice shots there 8-)

Nafeman - I've been meaning to take some pics of the car for ages, i'll take a couple of snaps tonight & see how they look - the front lip has made a big difference as it always looked slightly strange with sides & no front or rear! (don't really mind having no rear lip tbh)

Merlin - that's what i'm thinking of, was gonna get them done silver with a bit of sparkle through it but against the light metallic paint the wheels kinda disappear into the background a bit, that colour in the pic is pretty much spot on, they look as though they have a bit of a blue-ish tint to them too - i'll see what the wheel guy can do when I drop the car off.

Then obviously i'll take some pics of it... honest... :oops:

White or OEM

I dont understand the fascination with anthracite/black etc- just looks like the wheels are dirty to me :roll:

I like dark wheels if a car has tints (windows/lights) or other dark bits, i don't like too many different colours on a car.. personally.

Believe me, the white wheels will look dirtier within about 5 miles of a wash! This is what I had on mine;

And this is what I have now;

Liking the darker colour - I reckon white wheels only really look good on white cars & even then, only if kept absolutely spotless, like this:

... sometimes they look good on bold, flat colours too - but against my pale blue/silver 'lude at stock height it would look a bit wrong I reckon.

Just off the phone, booked in next Thursday 8-)

White on white is a toughie I think... this pulls it off though!
