Anyone swapped a steering rack?...

Post by NafemanNathan » Mon Jul 16, 2012 8:47 pm

Not for the lude, but on the Aerodeck, but I assume the principle is the same. Just wondering how long it should take. I obviously have one on the donor and then one on the family wagon, so in theory I have to remove two and refit two (Don't want to leave the donor in pieces and unsteerable see).

If it's likely to take me frikin ages or unlikely to go smoothly, then I might just remove the donor to then give to the man at the garage to fit for me (Or there are currently two tested on ebay). It's a PS rack by the way.

Thoughts...

Spotted two racks on ebay today, so might just go for one of them to save a whole lot of effort and then get someone else to fit to save a whole lot more ;-)

I took my rack out of my lude before scrapping it and nearly gave up half way through , what a slag of a job . Not something I want to do again and I wasn't even refitting..

My old 2.0 5th needed a new steering rack, the garage told me to take it somewhere else to do the work ;)

I didn't, I just sold it.

I was needing a more economical car and the steering rack was the final straw
