haha yeah that's what I'm getting at: if you just buy the badge and stick it on then you're a spanner, but if you have all the mechanical parts from it in your car, then it's kind of legit my Golf is a prime example, the driver was basically the full GTI trim but without the engine, so if you couldn't afford the GTI you could at least look like you had one. So If I go to the breakers and get the GTi engine, drop it in, that's now the same as a GTI??
I know what I'm doing with my Accord anyway, it's going to be the Accord Type-J as it'll be built to the 'Josh' specification, ie. on my drive out of what parts I can afford
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Err, no.jjmartin349571 wrote:This is something that has had me thinking lately... Like if you took an engine & gearbox from a type-r, and put it into say a sport, which has similar trim, could your car wear a type-r badge without being lynched?
I'm no expert, but to get anywhere near close you would need to
change the engine, gearbox, exhaust etc
remove any cruise control and weld up any sunroof
stiffen and brace your chassis so it is 40% stiffer (the rear seats don't even go down on the ATR)
remove any sound deadening
change your suspension etc
change your discs, callipers etc
change your interior
change your steering wheel
fit self levelling HIDs
change your dials to white
change your gearknob
and probably some other things
