front indicator suggestions 4th gen

Post by vanzep » Tue Oct 23, 2012 3:04 pm

I picked up a set of 1 piece JDM black backed headlights the other day and am thinking of fitting them to my lude - only problem is my front indicators are currently in with my side marker lights at the front. I didnt do this myself but i did swap over the front headlights and bumper from my uk donor car and this was how they were wired up. A hole has been drilled into the sidemarkers to allow for the indicator bulb to be squeezed in there also - its held in place with a blob of glue
Im not prepared to butcher up these 1 piece front lights to fit the indicator so i need to find somewhere else to fit them.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and even better if someone has some photshoping skills :)

You could continue to use the side markers for the indicators, just get some LED amber bulbs in there using the right fitment. I wonder if you could do something cunning with yet more LED's in the nostrils for sidelights.

[edit]From a wiring perspective, it may even be easier to do things the other way round? Have your sidelights in the usual place, and move the indicators into the nostrils? Or have LED's down behind the mesh at the sides?

[edit edit]These might work down just behind the mesh:

Might need to add some inline resistors to stop the flash rate going crazy though.

Have you ever thought about changing the hideous front bumper? :poke:

Don't side markers/parking lights have to be on the side? Aren't they there to indicate the width of the car?

I'd suggest keeping the OEM setup for the new headlights (sidelights, dipped beam, full beam) and then relocate the indicators to behind the mesh in the bumper.

Aww you dont like the front bumper Tony
I like it :) and it handles the parking knocks courtesy of my lovely neighbours very well - a lot better than the oem ones. Its wings west big mouth front bumper.
The only other alternative i have right now is
