A lot more wires than I'm used to

To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Headunit only put out 18wrms at best, FOrget the 50wx4 output altogether. A decent amp can provide more power and more CONTROLLED and undistorted power
And there I was assuming the sound quality was only dependant on the speakers and cables you used

Cheers boys, you've been a massive help! :D Got some thinking to do as I was considering getting a new double DIN player anyway, so now I've got everything to consider.

Well the boot is lined. Not on the boot lid though. The doors are done. The footwells aren't and I've not checked anywhere else (the rear quarters/roof) yet.

thats the normal areas covered. you have the basis of a fine midrange/betterthanbudget system there. With some considered ebaying you could get a really heafty sound. IMHO forget about the rears or just pipe bass/midbass to them and spend the money on front components and a S/H sub.
Have you looked at what is mounted in the doors etc? I wouldn't expect someone to go to that trouble and leave OEM in there  unless they took out the decent stuff and put OEM back in there.

I might have a nice rockford fosgate amp going at some point. 185 w rms p/c (this is real audio watts, not car audio watts. RF come with test certificates) that would do a lovely job n a pair of £100 components.

Show us whats in the shelf and doors :ugeek:

Definitely be interested in the amp come sell time bud :) I have no idea what it is, but I'm confident you wouldn't sell me crap ;)

There were no door speakers when I got it, but I put in the Infinity speakers I had put in the 3rd gen. The rears were in there though and coincidentally they are Infinity's to. I'll have to have a look at part numbers though to tell you exactly what they are.

Thats good luck to have matched brands all round as you'll get better harmony from them all. You'll be playing the same EQ all round which always helps as a starting point.
I found disconnecting the tweeters on the rears does wonders for the whole. Keeps the stage to the front but gives you the kick bass 360degree that you loose with just fronts. Pop in a 12'' sub crossed over to meet the rears (not many HU have a dual crossover feature so look out) and you should be quite happy.
