Re: Merlin's 4G Track Lude
I mean the speedo & rev counter. They are H23 dials. The relevance of which is where the red begins on the rev counter. The red matches where I expect VTEC to kick in (Yo), in the 6,500 rpm area. So red = VTEC
I swapped the dials mainly so I can see the speed in MPH. The dials were free from @Indigolemon as he upgraded to VTEC dials.

Finished, on the road, MOT'd, done!
The car has an MOT now which it passed no probs. It creamed the emissions test which indicates that all is well with the engine and ECU
Emissions were CO2 - 1.06% (fail = 3.5%) and HC was 640ppm (fail = 1200ppm) so it was well under the limits for the non-CAT test (JDM BB4 yo!). It still needs to be run on pure Vpower as well. ATM it has around a 40:60 blend of 97RON Super Unleaded to VPower in the tank. I couldn't be bothered to empty the fuel tank
. Tomorrow I will be topping it off with Vpower.
I drove it down to the MOT test, the car is a monster
It pulls like crazy out of VTEC and when VTEC engages all hell breaks loose. From 3,000 rpm in 2nd to 8,000 in 3rd does not take very long
The clutch isn't that bad, I was expecting worse, it just needs around 3,000 rpm to get moving smoothly. The car doesn't like going slow or slowly round corners. The LSD tugs at the car at low speeds. The LSD dominates the car in fact, you always feel it doing something. Even mildly accelerating out of a corner you feel it pull you through the exit of the corner. The gearbox as a whole is sublime and worth the extra cash, the gearbox is worth more than the whole of my 5th gen
.
The noise is awesome. The exhaust barks, the engine sounds sweet, the induction roar is very nice, and from inside the car you can hear the induction suck from the filter in the wing.

I got back in to my 5th gen and was like
Is this it?
I need to say thanks to @Dino for building up a great engine and then selling it to me
and to @3rd gen steve, @Vanzep, @Indigolemon, and Newkid for helping (3rd gen steve did a phenomenal amount of work on it) and supplying me with free parts when required.
Also a big thanks to GJMHONDA2012 for a free JDM rad cap. As you can see my old cap was well past it.

Re: Merlin's 4G Track Lude - Finished, on the road, MOT'd, d
On Saturday I might get some wee vids. There is a nice tarmac private road near me which I can have a quick blast on.
I forgot to say that the 1" brake master cylinder and brake booster upgrade was well worth it. The pedal is extremely solid and the brakes work very well so it was worth the gamble.
