IACV Delete. Anyone done it?

Post by RattyMcClelland » Sat Feb 28, 2015 7:05 pm

Going to be running an aftermarket throttle body so it will delete the FITV.

Now to make everything more simple, remove the horrible supercharger moo I'm getting from the jrsc iacv relocation block and run a cooler intake it makes sence to delete the iacv.

What problems should arise? Any ecu codes to expect?

It should clean up the engine bay loads especially when I delete egr too.

Will be using a obd1 p28.

i'm pretty sure it can be deleted when tuned, you'll probably have to raise your idle speed to compensate. i'm interested also due to going ITBs

I've done it and it's relatively straight forward. Before it was mapped it used to throw a check engine light occasionally, possibly due to this but not sure and it has never done it since.

Cold starts can be annoying as if you set the idle speed in the summer the car will cut out again once the winter arrives but with time you can find a happy medium (or just adjust it depending on the weather).

Yeah my 5th doesn't enjoy very cold mornings. It will cut straight out on the first attempt, but the second or third I can catch it with a little bit of accelerator.

My 5th also turns over for ages (about 5 or 6 seconds) before it fires up (No matter what the weather). I assume this is part of the map. I'm not sure if this is to introduce a bit more fuel into the system for such times ???...

When I used to start mine it need a bootful of gas and had to keep revs up or it would cut out until fully warmed up. If you had enough gas on it would always start first time though.

Mine only needs me to hold it at idle speed for a few seconds before I can take my foot off.

However, if I blimp the throttle the revs actually drop as if the car is suffercating. I can increase the revs at a well mannered pace and pull away, but if I went to just drop the pedal and pull away I can't... It will just cut out. It's not an issue though as I'd never drop the pedal from cold anyway.

So you're 5th gen is running without an IACV @NafemanNathan?

This could simplify things for mine too - and as Ratty says would clean things up a bit - it hides all the lurvly supercharger, fuel rail setup I have.

I kept mine initially but it wouldn't idle properly anyway as the FITV was removed so I just ripped the lot out. FITV, IACV and EGR were all removed when I fitted the Skunk2 mani and TB.

Ultimate  moment... Just been to look at the car and no I'm still running an IACV

I forget the ATR IACV is nicely concealed behind the throttle body. I thought I better just go and check now I've been asked directly

The thing has blatantly been spliced into the 5th gen loom as there's a nicely blue-electrical-taped wire running right across the top of the inlet manifold

Sorry, my bad. Not sure what's causing all my symtoms then lol. Must just be the map... Unless the FITV has been deleted :?
