That is a right bummer. I thought it was going back to get tweaked, not a big issue to fix :(

Yer sucks ass however rich is being a true gent about it all and he's very gutted. When I picked the car up I could tell he was proud of his work and spent allot of time on it getting it right.

However lets no jump to conclusions yet. 8-)

I know the feeling. Obviously not spent as much as yourself bud but it's heart wrenching. Hopefully it comes back bigger and better bud.

Yes it does suck. Luckily mine didn't get as far as yours by spinning a bearing.

So Rich think hes found the problem which could be one of 2 thinks.
Camshaft wear which has created a sluge which has then gone through the engine and eaten everything or minor oil pump failure creating the extra cam wear. Either way the cams were worn but Rich used them as they looked fine.

Either way the engine is fubar.

The noise i could hear is big end bearings on pistons 2 and 3....gone.
Crank is fubar.
2 Rods are fubar.
Pistons are scored.
Block is scored and needs honing again or overboring.
Head is totalled and all the valves etc.

Basically the block is whats left.

So because it would be custom CP pistons only at 10:1 compression and overbore Rich has decided to go with 11.1 Arias Forged pistons, he has a bare head which hes going to rework to lower compression slightly (for 9-12psi limit) and increase airflow along with Accord Type R cams.
New crank and bearings.
It will need remapping again.

:(

However to help Rich out i have told him to do a
Baffled Sump
Oil cooler
3" exhaust to replace the Mugen. (for sale now)
and then remap which i was going to pay for anyway.

So this setup could potentially be even more epic.

Gutted about the car but im more gutted for Rich and Performance Autoworks doing it all again. Prelude curse.

Gutted for you both! :(

So Rich is doing all this at no extra cost, bar the remap, sump, cooler and 3" exhaust?

Yes. Any extra work I'm paying for of course like throttle body tweaks.

Rich has been excellent. Always had been. He's apologised more than enough but to be honest I'm fine with the car. More gutted he has to do it all again. I know the feeling as it's happened in my job a fair few times with rain and green flies in the lacquer outside when I'm painting the car. Had to redo the woke side.
