Some progress, though a bit slow.
As a pick me up I decided to give the car a bit of a clean, so I rolled it out of the garage, covered in all its dust and glory…..
And I felt much better after cleaning, even though it still looks like crap.
So onto some work, I picked these up off Gayno (thanks) after Nucleustyles gave them to him free issue to take to me at JAE (thanks).
Some cleaning
Clean and ready for derusting.
The’re currently sat in a bucket and are about 90% done.
I finished off the chassis rails, now shiny metal.
I picked up some polybushed front suspension bits from Dino’s lude (cheers). I’ve degreased them and will set about derusting and painting them up when I get the time.
Now onto some decent stuff. The front slam panel looks a bit grotty and a broken bolt in there too…
So I drilled and tapped that out
Off with the vin plate.
Then at it with a wire wheel
And some derust gel.
And a bit of red oxide until I get round to painting it properly.
Whilst the front end was stripped down I did all the stuff that sits behind the bumper, which was pretty grotty.
After some wire wheeling…
And post gel treatment.
And paint.
I cleaned up the front bumper bar and painted it.
And the bonnet catch.
While the front end was in bits, I cleaned up the headlights, the insides were a little grotty, so I pumped them full of surfex hd and let it sit for about an hour, then I blasted the insides with a hose pipe, and kept repeating until they were all shiny inside. Once clean I flatted the plastics and gave them a good polish, there not quite finished yet, but not too far off either.
I’ve also treated the trim that sits below the back window.
Primed.
Painted.
I’ve also treated the space underneath with some dynax ub to starve off the potential for rust.
Also cleaned up many of the plastic clips off the car.
A bit more a bit sooner hopefully.
