I was, But I didn't have time. So I dropped it off with my mate who's got the blue skyline and he did it, as he had ordered the parts through work. 8-)

Noice! Not that I think there is great variance in upper arms but they look the exact same ones as I had to buy when my ball joints were fooked.

Re: Marts lude - CF Repair

Post by mart609 » Thu Sep 13, 2012 8:22 pm

Well I managed to at last get hold of a CF bonnet!
But as ususal I managed to fluff something up! was a REAL squeeze trying to get it in the back of a 4x4. 3 of us just about managed to angle it in after several attempts just before giving up.
But trying to get it out with just the 2 of us at 11.30pm in the dark proved too much, and I managed to chip on the corner  :(

Only a small chip but went right down to the weave.

So after some advice I went and bought some of this

Image

Sanded it down a bit

Mixed a little bit of the resin and hardner up and put it on and left it to dry

Image

Then sanded that down until flat
Image

Then worked my way through various grades of wet and dry from 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 then finished off with some rubbing compound then polish

Turned out pretty well. Considering I've never done anything like this before. Was crapping it the whole way through! the camera flash brings out the shade of the resin and is alot less noticable than it looks!

Good repair work mate :)

I found that too with the flash, it highlights every little flaw on fibre
