(LB) New ATR Inlet manifold

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:23 pm

Do not fear Mart... The Spoon mirrors are in fact plastic! Not to worry though, they're just as light, I didn't exactly pay Spoon prices for them as there was doubt, and best of all, I'm not gonna end up in tears if ever I get winged

Anyway, lastest edition to the build arrived today... one ATR inlet manifold :D

Image

Came with a few other brackets and hoses which I removed before the photoshoot, but then I also removed the EGR plate. My got that's a lot of carbon! ...

Not that it matters, but there's no way that ATR's EGR was functioning properly! :?

And not that it mattered, but I cleared all the carbon out of the EGR plate channels anyway ;-) ...

Image

It does make me wonder how bunged the standard manifold EGR channels could be... Being there's not exactly debungable without modification :?

Anyway! ;-) I gave it a bit of a clean :D ...

Much better!

Next stage, get the mouth bored out to suit my larger throttle body, machine a small amount of meat away from around the injector ports as the ATR flow paths are a lot narrower. Tap some thread in a number of holes to allow me to "bung" them and also have my friend machine me up the two EGR blockoff plates and the IACV blockoff plate (The IACV is around the back of the ATR manifold). Oh and knock up a throttle cable bracket.

Now then, that just leaves me to win that Type S head on ebay

Brilliant!

 It all seems pretty straight forward (Obviously I'm getting my friend to do the hard work ;-) ) But I am wanting to get some rather obscure injectors, so not entirely sure of the mounting for them yet and therefore the height of the fuel rail. I think I may have to just order the injectors from the states and then measure and compare.
