I've run many a car short term without a battery with no issues. Surprised it took almost 2 pages for you guys to get there.

And corrected, the cam cover is actually isolated from the engine, hence why it has it's own earthing strap.Supermarine Blues wrote: The alternator's connected to the bracket,
