Re: PLEASE DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD YET (Under Constructio

I can't say I'm entirely convinced, and that guy who apparently tested it kind of missed the point a bit.

I have to say I removed the original pipe to the air duct as I found quite a lot of traces of oil in the duct on numerous occasions, which would suggest the intake duct was drawing air from the valve cover. I got rid of it because I obviously don't want hot oilly air being sucked into my IM. But then I imagine when the throttle body is closed, the pressure in the duct was causing air to be forced into the valve cover.

We know that the PCV valve connection and pipe only sucks air from the valve cover into the IM (hence why people fit a catch tank), so the breather pipe (air duct side) will obviously need to allow air into the valve cover to insure a vacuum isn't created, but then when you're in WOT and they're both sucking this is going to create a vacuum surely? So I'd have thought fitting a breather filter was a good thing as it can simply draw air in and out as the engine pleases. The only issue I could see is that the inside of the filter will get clotted, so it's probably best to change them quite often... Or better still, fit a catch tank that side as well.

Thoughts?... ;-)

I may just do that Frank. Trouble is it's going to have to match the one I currently have, but I don't think I'll be able to find another at such a bargain! ;-)

Sure bud... Don't think that title's taken yet

Yeah, 240/250 as it stands, but I was considering getting some head work done as well. But obviously all things considered I may have to knock that on the head for a bit. I'll have a word with Richie when I'm ready to see how much the running total will be.

Which extra bits are you jealous of as well then?!... Go on tell me! :D

Yeah Shawn was great! I left him to sort out the injectors and tails and clips as well, I ordered two sets of everything (one for another friend on LB). It did take 3 months from payment, but as it's his second job and everything is built to order and he needs a bit of bulk for anodizing it's understandable. Can't fault his enthusiasm at all, and I'd definitely recommend him to any one else considering taking a similar route :)
