Nope. Starting to look like manual tensioner and greddy belts don't go together
What have they said?

it may just be talk but the Septics dont seem to like them they put a lot of stress on the pulleys

There's no give in the belt apparently. I'll know more on Monday. Comes to it I'll get gates belts.

Sounds like one of the troubles I had having my Gates belt fitted with the manual tensioner.

yeah ive seen/helped do 5 manual tensioner conversions so far and the belt is always tight
last one took 3 of us to get the belt on  and that was just the T226 standard belt - god knows how many it would take if it was a reinforced belt going on.
ive got a T226 belt here - i would take it down to the garage and let them try that one ;)
i guess the other thing that could be done is heating the belt in a way that allows it to expand a little without damaging it - though ive not done this yet - was thinking a hairdrier might be ok
i know nafeman elongated the slot in the tensioner and that is definately an option as well

Elongating the slot is the best option in my opinion. Straining the belt to get it on is not ideal for the belt or the pulleys.

just had a look and compared the H23 timing belt bearing dia. to the H22 auto one and its approx 2.8mm bigger - hence the tight belt :x
