 Keep us posted. I've not had a reply back from Zircotec yet either. I'll give them a few more days. Might just be busy.

I'm glad our plans are so different from one another, else our engines or maybe even our whole cars would look identical to each other!... What with everything being the same colour and all!

Just had a reply back from Zircotec...

This is the spheal I assume they put with all their replies...

Dear Nathan,

Thank you for your enquiry via our website.

Zircotec® coatings are proven for application to a variety of materials providing a high performance ceramic thermal barrier coating, which improves the efficiency of exhausts and prevents local component and chassis damage from radiated heat. In recent testing surface temperatures were reduced by ~33% for our Performance Range and ~25% for our Primary Range; both may be suitable for your needs but more details are shown on our website http://www.zircotec.com.

Our coatings are not paints but ceramics applied using a plasma spraying process which ensures an extremely well adhered, durable coating with an extremely hard and durable surface that is highly resistant to vibration, mechanical damage and thermal shock. The full process, which is suitable for both new and used exhaust systems, consists of: masking where the coating is not required, surface preparation, spraying of base coat and finally spraying of a ThermaHold® barrier coat. As we use plasma spraying process the coating is to the external surfaces only with no preparatory work required by you.

The natural colour of our coating is white/cream, but many of our customers call for the very highest level of performance offered by Performance White™ but also require a coating with a finish that can be more easily maintained. To meet this need Zircotec has developed a range of high quality multi-coat colour finishes that are applied over the top of our standard plasma-sprayed ceramic. The full range of colours can be seen on the attached link (http://www.zircotec.com/page/-_performance_colours/47 ).

And then this bit is more specifically regarding my query. Note I sent them pictures of a Bisimoto V2 style header and downpipe. I was interested in the Diamond Black finish and asked if in their experience whether it's worth coating the downpipe as well. to that they said...

Our Primary range is only available in a matt black finish.

We have coated many collector downpipes, our advice to you would be that it depends on the heat management that you want to achieve.

With reference to our Diamond Black™ coating, we do not recommend this coating if uncoated exhaust surface temperatures are likely to exceed ~400oC (~750oF).

Regarding pricing; for a 4 cylinder tubular manifold (as picture supplied), the cost to coat is £160 for Primary Black™ or £262 for any from our Performance Colours™ range. For a 4 cylinder tubular manifold and collector downpipe (as picture supplied), the cost to coat £269 for Primary Black™ or £442 for any from our Performance Colours™ range. Prices exclude shipping and VAT. Turnaround time is approximately 10 working days with payment accepted via credit card or bank transfer.

To proceed, simply send the manifold (with or withour the collector downpipe) to the address below, remembering to include your contact details and quotation number #########. We will contact you upon receipt to confirm details and arrange payment.

P.S. You may also be interested in a new video we have just released showing how a Zircotec coating stops the glow from a red hot exhaust, view video.

Kind Regards

Karen

This is the video they attached to the email...

A very good price for the primary black as well I thought, especially considering the complexity of the Bisi style header...

Well, finally found the correct email for them, they have a newer site, not sure why the other is still hosted.

Anyone see new site here:

www.camcoat.com

They have a host of different brands of finishes now. I got a price for the following to my solid-fabs manifold and downpipe:

- Black Satin external coating = £180 + VAT = £216
- Black Satin external coating & TLHB internal coating = £230 + VAT = £276

I asked for the Black Satin on it's own after and it seems high in relation to adding the LTHB. :?

Nath, hopefully you see this, did you get any prices yet?

I also enquired about their heat dispersant TLTD for the supercharger, but didn't get a price just yet.

What do you think? Not quite 2002 prices!

Cheers,

Rob

Yes, after I posted. I searched to find posts with 'camcoat' which was the page before and then just replied to thread. So read it after. So we could get inside and outside done with them for the price of the Zircotec. 8)

Still not cheap ontop of a nice manifold. I'm having a think about mine. Need to do it when it's new though, especially the internal coat.

Nice idea, but the chances of everyone having their manifolds off at the same time is probably remote ;-)
