(PUK) Wings West RS Lip Kit & Eyebrows Fitted. H22a7 Surpris

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:09 pm

Well I made a bit of progress today and found something that made I laugh ;-) ...

Not been spending much time on the lude as of late as I've been concentrating on the house. Anyway, I had to move this lot out of the big bedroom today as I need to get the plasterers in...

Image

My Wings West kit ;-) ...

First of all I wanted to do my subtle tweeks like I've done on my current bumper. Being I've done my front indicator/reflector conversion there are a few ugly bits left unrequired on a standard bumper, so I had to cut these off again...

From...

To...

Image

Previously I'd even removed the front foglight area, but this had left the bushes in the front cross member exposed, so I decided against removing this portion this time...

Previous red bumper...

Image

Image

I did that last night, so today I got to fit it :D Along with the eyebrows 8) ...

Colourful in't she?

And then I gave the engine a bit of a rub down as the block had oxidized slightly whilst it's just been sat there...

Image

But whilst I was wire brushing the front of the head I noticed some numbers I wasn't expecting...

As some of you know I had a bit of an incident a while back where my cambelt snapped  A few of the valves were bent and long story short, I ended up replacing the head with a low mileage H22a# head my local Honda had kicking around. It was only missing the cams. I know a couple of the guys down there, so I got it for a very good price (;-) ;-) )

And then there was that whole fiasco where I bought a complete Type-S H22a7 head from a guy on ebay... That then just turned out to be a standard P13 H22a head (I still have that for sale btw ;-) )

Well anyway, since that ebay confusion I've become a little more aware of the different H22a# head codes, and today whilst scrubbing my head I noticed this :D ...

Image

I already have me a PDE (H22a7) head :D

I was told the head was from an Accord... I just assumed it was from a standard 2.2 Vtec... Not an ATR

Cheers guys! I feel such a goon for not knowing, but at the same time... I don't care!

Some people need to do a good deed everyday. My aim... body lemonade Phil off

Just edited the original post... I forgot to mention it was complete with valve train as well. The only things it was missing were the cams. Not to worry though as I have my Skunk2 bits n bobs anyhoo :P

I'm actually not terribly keen on the rear lip myself. I just put it on there to see really. It just doesn't look right. It's far from as cool as the front and sides anyway. But yeah, as long as no-one hates it as much as yours

And what you robbin' now?...
mercutio wrote:have you completely deleted the front indicators then?
Nope. I've done this...
From my profile on LB wrote:I went on a whim and decided to chop my front indicators in half :D ...

The idea was to convert the side reflectors to indicators instead... Like so...

Image

So I sliced the backs of the reflectors off as well and gave them a good sand...

Image

And simply glued them together with solvent weld :) ...

Image

The end product looked like this...

Image

Being a whim, I wasn't that prepared, so didin't have the vital amber bulbs  ... so I improvised  ...

Image

... Yes, I sprayed them Milano red :P

Image

They inserted like so...

Image

Up close look like this...

Image

And from slightly afar... look like this :D ...

Image

And when lit... like this!...

also would it not have been easier getting some side marker lights and just using those instead of hacking up the indicators?

I didn't have any side markers Phil  Jeeeeees!

Rob - Yeah, I think I can push one day of the weekend at the minute. Provided I keep working on the house during the week evenings ;-)

Mart - Considering Brembos as well then?... Or do you mean the Kawasaki Green?

Not yet mate. Sourced some spare hubs so I can mock-up a setup to measure up an adapter bracket. Should be fairly straight forward, but I have house priorities at the minute :) ... Though I have been working on modifying my ATR manifold now and again ;-)
