240 + bhp N/A Ludes

Post by Free Ranj Egg » Wed Apr 27, 2016 12:10 pm

Lude Dudes,

As the title says for the cars running 240bhp plus which are still N/A has anyone got any 0-62 times/quarter mile/ in gear acceleration times that they have tested.

Funds permitted I will only probably go as far as bolt ons and maybe cams, so 240 is realistic but just wanted to know how fast these cars are over the standard cars.

Are they a different car to drivec compared to the OEM one?

Is the Vtec more aggressive/linear in comparison.

Does the car rev easier and is the driveability better etc...

I don't have any comparitive times, so will struggle to give you a worthy answer, but my 5th gen with a tuned a7 and decent upgrades (Check the 1st page of my build thread for spec) is certainly fast and torquey alround, and noticably oodle times faster of the line than my lighter 4th gen which had a healthy 205bhp. It just keeps pulling as well, well into the 7k's. Revs happier to, but I do also have a lightened flywheel.

My VTEC engagement is nice and civilised though. You can't feel it unless you really pay attention...

Yeah, nafe has beat me to it in that there's still a lot of variables at play: weight/model of car, gearbox, flywheel, LSD or not blah blah.... BUT:
I can only speak of my own setup but I can pretty much echo what he's said - Mine is very noticeably quicker than stock and the extra torque is probably more welcome than the extra ponies, it's the area under the graph that's important ;)
The car is no less driveable at all, it's very smooth and not peaky. My VTEC crossover is actually set to 3800rpm, I get a bigger kick higher up the revs, believed to be down to the exhaust manifold. A lot of the driveability is down to the map, of course.
1st and 2nd in particular are very nice and can be quite vicious if you're so inclined, but it's just the pull overall that is much, much better.
As for figures, I'm not massively bothered by them as I've driven enough cars to know they don't really tell the story, but from experience I would be very very surprised if 0-60 wasn't sub 6. Bear in mind I have Hondata, a lightened flywheel, LSD and rarely drive around with more than 1/2 a tank of motion lotion.
At some point I will fix my GTECH pro meter and take it for a spin... ;)

Where are you Ranj? If you're near by (or not for that matter) you're most welcome to a ride in the good ship Nigella. :D

Im in Brum Benny boy but no doubt I will meet some of the guys of the forum. Next time I am in your neck of the woods I will let you know and yes I would love to take a ride in the good ship Nigella.

It was quite an open ended question I posed so I doubt I would have got myself a set answer. The answers from you and Nathan are pretty much what I was looking for.

So thanks for the input gents - its much appreciated.
