PSP making weird noise after being moved to get to the ALT

Post by lewd lude lover » Fri May 25, 2012 2:55 pm

Help please.

I changed over the Aternator with lots of swearing. started engine, all good :D

could hear a minor ringing sound so thought maybe i had tightened the alt belt a little to much. took the PSP off again to get to the adjusters and then replaced everything.

It's a closed system man, so any trapped air should just work itself out. Is the ps fluid level still OK, can you see any leaks anywhere?

Hard to tell from a video, but that noise isn't a bearing gone is it? Have you put your hand on it (carefully ;-) ) whilst it's running to feel for big vibrations?

That wouldn't explain the foamy fluid mind. Does that just look like someone's blow air through a straw in it? As that might just settle. If you've replaced the pump you would more than likely get some air in the system, but as Lemon stated, that should just work it's way out.

Its normal for the PS fluid to bubble away. How foamy is foamy?

Is anything catching on the belt? Maybe down near the crank pulley? All the teeth on the belts are sitting on teh pulley grooves ok?

no leaks anywhere. iv reseated all the main connections. It makes this noise while on tick over but goes up in volume alot if i turn the wheel.

so do i just leave it running???? :?

if its a bearing gone its gone in a matter of moments. i think its air but i cant work out how so much is in there. left it running for 5 mins and no difference.

if i turn the wheel the foamy fluid starts to come out the top of the bottle.

didnt replace the pump. took it off its mounts to get to the Alternator.

So you literally just removed it from the bracket/block and just left it resting? Was it on it's side or anything? Very strange :? There's no kinks in any pipes?

just that. i reckon the air got in when i moved the bottle out the way.

Im just going to run it, stop it for a while so the bubbles in the bottle disperse and then run again. I'll get it out eventually....
