Sticker bombing

Post by Edd » Fri Mar 22, 2013 1:47 pm

As I'm sure you are all aware I was a tool and binned my s2k approximately 1 hour after I purchased it. Now I'm left with "retard marks" and I want to cover them whilst I save up to go to the body shop. Unfortunately the bumper I had to buy is full of scrapes on the offside (same as my damage) and there is a small mark right next to the offside light clusters on the quarter. Also the boot lid is starting to rust. All these things combined make it rather difficult to successfully pose when I have the roof down, so I thought of perhaps sticker bombing the affected areas. I don't want to use a pre made vinyl but instead buy a sticker book and do it myself. Has anyone done this and perhaps has some pointers? Should I spray a lacquer on over the top? And what prep would be recommended?

Cheers!
Edd

As if by magic the shopkeeper arrives :D If you dont get that you are not old enough :lol:

Make sure the panel is clean.

Studio Rarekwai sticker book or something similar.

I tried clearcoat/lacquer but it was not strong enough so I am going to try Epoxy resin.

This will be on the car soon, once I sort my carbon bonnet out 8-)

merlin, did you use rattlecan lacquer or proper 2pac from a gun? the difference is huge in my experience. The rattlecan is like water compared to the real suff.

@edd: i found it hard to find any books of stickers. i only looked on ebay though :lol: :?

Yeah I found that book merlin, i think there is three of them. How much of the book did you use?
I notice you have done the whole panel, I wasn't going to do the whole bumper as it might be OTT? What are your thoughts?

I could use a real gun to lacquer it but if I'm only doing a little bit it doesn't seem worth it?

@lewdludelover amazon ;)

Just the rattle can, it was really thin :evil: I could take it to my local spray shop. Epoxy resin will do the job for me though as it will be impenetrable :twisted:

Edd there are pics of people who have done a little bit, I think you have to try and feather it out to make it look good IMO.

I wouldn't tbh. If i seen some1 driving round with random parts stickerbombed, on the likes of an S2K, i would think they were a bit of a tool. I would rather see honest battle scars rather than a dodgy cover-up.

If you do want to do something with stickers, maybe just get a couple of single stickers with "ouch" on them and stick them on.
