... If you've got a gen 4 facelift model, chances are your cupholder stays open and won't clip shut.
chances are you've also tried without success to find a working one.
well, here's how (in most cases) to fix it. (Thanks to Nathan for showing me how to do this in the first place.)
1: Pull out cupholder (just pulls upwards)
this is what most of you will see on the side....
2) this little pin is what you need to fix it.
I made mine from a piece of paperclip, any strong wire will do as long as its thin enough to go into the groove on the cupholder. its approx 2cm long, with the ends around 3-4mm
3)remove the screw and clip
4)place piece of wire from the hole just above the screw hole and into the groove.
(at this point, pick up cup holder, holding pin in place with thumb and check the operation, it should slide around the left section of groove on closing and right side on opening, if not adjust the proportions of the pin until it does)
5) now put the clip and screw back, the new pin should be visible through the slot in the clip
6) Close lid on cup holder.
7) Cheer.
Must have broken in the past and been fixed. No idea where the spare one is now though.
