Painting Calipers

Do I need to primer calipers before painting?

Currently rubbing them down to remove the old paint and I'm pretty much back to bare metal.

I just used brake caliper paint. They still look good after 5 years, but there'd be no harm in etch priming.

I just used silver hammerite - looks good to me, just needs dirt wiping off occasionally and touching up (gigidy!) once a year

I've done mine with silver hammerite - the rears still look fairly good, but because my brakes put out a LOT of heat (more than most people's here ever will) - it does tend to bubble slightly and get a bit of a gold appearance to it.

But - for general use on your Prelude, it'll be fine

Imho NO.

from experiejce of both with primer takes stone chips and lers in moisture whils the correct paint onto metal lasts MUCH longer.

hi temp enamel is best ijhonas it settles into the grain and resists most stuff.

I guarentee you will have unsightly chips in yr finish within a year if you undercoat
